To celebrate Filipino American History Month, I worked with photographer Ryan Calacsan on his collaboration with BRWNGRLZ for their FAHM jewelry line. The shoot pays tribute to our mothers, who, like many others in our families, immigrated to Chicago to from the Philippines to work as nurses and in the medical field. About one-third of all foreign-born nurses in the U.S. are Filipino. Since the 1960's, there have been over 150,000 Filipino nurses who have migrated to the U.S.

I developed the art direction, visual inspiration, and styling for the shoot. To juxtapose the modern look of the BRWNGRLZ line, I pulled inspiration from 1920's portraiture from the Philippines and nurse pinning ceremonies. It was an awesome project to work on with our families!
